Director Prasanth Varma, famed for creating HanuMan, has announced his next project, Mahakali, which will be the third film from the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). This film introduces India’s first female superhero into the HanuMan universe. The announcement was made through a visually stunning motion teaser featuring a young girl confronting a tiger. The film is expected to redefine the superhero genre in Indian cinema, with the makers declaring on social media, “This Navratri, we’re breaking the mold and redefining what a superhero can be.”
Mahakali will be directed by Puja Kolluru, who previously directed Martin Luther King starring Sampoornesh Babu. The story is set in Bengal, with the backdrop of a circus. Like Prasanth Varma’s earlier films, the divine connection to Goddess Kali, also known as Mahakali, will be central to the film’s storyline. The film promises to be a high-budget production with cutting-edge technical standards, establishing it as a major player in India’s superhero cinema.
RKD Studios will produce Mahakali, written by Prasanth Varma, with Riwaz Ramesh Duggal as the producer and RK Duggal presenting the film. Smaran Sai will compose the music, and Sri Nagendra Tangalla will handle the production design. The film will be released across pan-Indian and international markets in multiple languages, featuring the IMAX 3D format for a larger-than-life experience. The main cast and additional crew will be revealed soon, and the release date is expected to be announced shortly.
