Writer-director Venky Atluri recently opened up on a podcast about the hurdles that young filmmakers encounter, with erratic feedback standing out as one of the biggest challenges. Reflecting on his journey, he described how feedback often varied drastically, sometimes overnight, from enthusiastic praise to discouraging criticism. This inconsistency, he noted, can damage confidence and make new filmmakers question their abilities.
Atluri recalled, "The biggest challenge is when feedback constantly shifts. One day, your story is praised; the next, they ask for rewrites, making you doubt your talent. It's demoralizing for a newcomer and creates deep self-doubt."
However, he credited his friends and support system for helping him stay resilient. He highlighted actor Varun Tej's steadfast support during his debut project, Tholi Prema (2018), which allowed him to overcome these challenges and find success. Reflecting on the value of such support, Atluri remarked, “Having someone stand by you, like Varun, can truly change the game.”
Atluri’s next project, Lucky Baskhar, is a financial thriller starring Dulquer Salmaan, scheduled for an October 31 release.
