Allu Arjun’s much-awaited film Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, was released on December 5th. On the night before the release, December 4th, Allu Arjun visited a theater in Hyderabad to watch the movie at 10:30 PM. The unexpected visit led to a massive crowd surge at the theater, resulting in a tragic incident. In the chaos, a woman named Revathi (aged 35) and her 9-year-old son Srideja were caught in the crowd. Unfortunately, Revathi lost her life in the incident.
In the aftermath, Allu Arjun was arrested by the police on December 13th, though he was later granted bail. However, reports suggest that the Telangana police are now considering filing an appeal in the Supreme Court against his interim bail.
In support of Allu Arjun, renowned director Ram Gopal Varma took to social media, expressing his strong disagreement with the arrest. He questioned why the police were taking such extreme measures and pointed out the absurdity of punishing stars for their popularity. Drawing a parallel, Varma referred to the tragic incident on the set of his film Kshan Kshanam, where three people lost their lives during a crowd gathering to meet Sridevi. Varma's post raised the question: "Will the Telangana police arrest Sridevi now for those deaths?"
