The Kerala government has initiated a probe into a high-ranking police officer’s meeting with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders, raising concerns over the officer's political affiliations and impartiality. The officer in question, who holds a senior post in the state’s police department, allegedly held discussions with RSS figures, sparking a political firestorm.

Opposition parties, particularly the Congress and CPI(M), have expressed strong criticism, demanding transparency and action against the officer for engaging with a controversial organization like the RSS. The meeting has fueled debates on whether government officials should maintain strict boundaries between their professional roles and political leanings.

Kerala's Home Department has ordered an internal investigation to assess whether the officer’s actions were in violation of service rules or posed any threat to the officer’s impartiality. The probe comes at a sensitive time, with both the RSS and state’s left-leaning government often at ideological odds. Meanwhile, the RSS has downplayed the meeting, calling it a routine discussion with no political significance.
