According to the complaints submitted to the police, investors were persuaded to deposit money into the application based on assurances of substantial financial gains.

The Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached assets worth Rs 39 lakh in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to the online bidding platform Save Box. The action has been carried out under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

According to official sources, the case is associated with allegations involving Malayalam actor Jayasurya. Authorities clarified that the attachment of assets is provisional in nature and forms part of the agency’s ongoing investigation. No final determination has been made at this stage, and further proceedings will follow under the legal framework of the Act.

The money laundering investigation originates from four First Information Reports registered at the Thrissur East Police Station in Kerala. The FIRs were filed by investors who alleged that the online platform Save Box collected funds by promising high returns through an online bidding process.

According to the complaints submitted to the police, investors were persuaded to deposit money into the application based on assurances of substantial financial gains. However, the complainants alleged that they were later unable to recover their investments and suspected that they had been cheated. Based on these allegations, local police registered cases and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Following the police action, the Enforcement Directorate initiated a parallel probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Under this law, the agency has the authority to attach properties that are suspected to be proceeds of crime. Officials stated that the provisional attachment of assets worth Rs 39 lakh was made after examining financial records and other related documents.

Legal experts explain that provisional attachment under the PMLA is a preventive measure intended to ensure that assets suspected to be linked to unlawful activities are not transferred or disposed of during the course of the investigation. The attached properties remain subject to adjudication by the appropriate authority under the Act.

The ED has not publicly disclosed detailed findings at this stage, as investigations are ongoing. Authorities are expected to continue examining financial transactions, statements and relevant documentation connected to the Save Box platform and the individuals named in the case.

The case has drawn attention in Kerala due to the involvement of a well known public figure and the broader issue of online investment platforms that promise unusually high returns. Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly cautioned the public to exercise due diligence before investing money in digital schemes that offer guaranteed profits.

As the legal process moves forward, further developments will depend on the findings of the investigation and subsequent adjudication proceedings. Officials have reiterated that the matter is under active investigation and that conclusions will be determined in accordance with the law.

However, the complainants alleged that they were later unable to recover their investments and suspected that they had been cheated.
