In response to the threat, the Kerala government has activated emergency response teams and opened relief camps in vulnerable areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange weather warnings for eight districts in Kerala on December 2, forecasting heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and the risk of localized flooding and landslides. The warning comes in light of a low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal, which is intensifying as it approaches the Kerala coast.

The districts affected include Idukki, Wayanad, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode. The IMD predicts that these regions could experience rainfall ranging from 100-200 mm, with winds gusting at speeds of 50-60 km/h. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, as conditions could lead to flooding in low-lying areas and possible landslides in hilly regions.

In response to the threat, the Kerala government has activated emergency response teams and opened relief camps in vulnerable areas. Residents have been urged to remain indoors, and unnecessary travel should be avoided. Schools and colleges in the affected districts may remain closed, depending on the severity of the weather.

Fishermen are advised to stay off the seas until the weather improves. The IMD has warned that the situation is dynamic, and the public is encouraged to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and follow government guidelines for safety.

The districts affected include Idukki, Wayanad, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode.
