Indian space technology startup Agnikul Cosmos has achieved a significant milestone by successfully testing its indigenously developed 3D printed rocket engine named Agnite. The company announced the development highlighting its potential to transform rocket manufacturing by reducing complexity and production timelines.

The Agnite engine is designed with a single piece architecture which distinguishes it from traditional rocket engines that typically consist of thousands of individual components. By using advanced 3D printing technology the entire engine can be manufactured as a single unit within a week. This is a major improvement compared to conventional methods where production can take several months due to the need for assembling multiple parts.

The engine is intended to power the booster stage of Agnikul’s Agnibaan launch vehicle. Agnikul Cosmos has acknowledged the support received from key institutions including the Indian Space Research Organisation INSPACe and IIT Madras. The company operates from a facility located within the IIT Madras campus which has been instrumental in fostering innovation and research in space technology.
