Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting in New Delhi to assess security and operational preparedness for the annual Amarnath Yatra, one of India's most significant religious pilgrimages. The yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3 and is expected to attract thousands of devotees from across the country.
The meeting brought together senior officials from various security, intelligence and administrative agencies responsible for ensuring the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage. Among those present were National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Central Reserve Police Force Director General G P Singh and other senior government officials.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding security arrangements along the pilgrimage routes, crowd management measures, emergency response systems and coordination between various agencies involved in the yatra. Officials reviewed existing plans and assessed preparedness to address potential challenges during the pilgrimage season.
The Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine located in the Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir. Every year, devotees undertake the journey through challenging mountainous terrain to offer prayers at the shrine.
