Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi has said that the Indian Armed Forces remain fully prepared for Operation Sindoor 2.0 if circumstances require further military action. His remarks come amid continued focus on national security preparedness and ongoing efforts to strengthen India's defence capabilities.
Speaking during events associated with the Passing Out Parade of the National Defence Academy in Pune, General Dwivedi stated that all three branches of the armed forces, including the Army, Navy and Air Force, are maintaining a high level of readiness. He emphasized that the current operational environment requires constant preparation and coordination among the services.
The Army Chief noted that while there is currently a temporary cessation of hostilities, the armed forces continue to remain alert and prepared for future contingencies. According to him, Operation Sindoor remains an important part of India's broader security posture, and preparations are underway to address any emerging challenges if required.
General Dwivedi highlighted the changing nature of modern warfare and explained that future conflicts will not be limited to traditional battlefields. He said military operations increasingly involve multiple domains, including land, air, sea, space, cyber and information-based environments. As a result, India's armed forces are focusing on technological advancement and integrated operational planning.
The Army Chief stressed the importance of jointness among the three services. He said efforts are being made to improve coordination, operational efficiency and strategic planning through greater integration. Defence experts have often noted that modern military preparedness depends heavily on cooperation between different branches of the armed forces.
General Dwivedi also referred to the ongoing modernization of India's military structure. He stated that the armed forces are adopting advanced technologies and improving their capabilities to address future security requirements. Areas such as real-time intelligence gathering, secure communications, air defence systems and precision targeting remain key priorities in the transformation process.
The remarks come at a time when regional security developments continue to be closely monitored. Defence analysts believe that preparedness and modernization play an important role in maintaining national security and responding effectively to potential threats.
