Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits during the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela conducted through video conferencing. The initiative is part of the Central government’s larger effort to strengthen employment generation and accelerate recruitment in various government departments and organizations.
The Rozgar Mela program was launched to provide employment opportunities to young candidates across the country and streamline the recruitment process for government jobs. According to officials, newly appointed candidates under this phase will join departments working under the Central government in different sectors and services.
During the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the recruits and highlighted the importance of youth participation in nation building. He stated that young professionals joining public service play an important role in strengthening governance and contributing to the country’s development.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh also spoke about the progress of the Rozgar Mela initiative. He said that since the launch of the employment drive in October 2023, government recruitment processes have become more transparent and efficient. According to him, the initiative has helped improve confidence among job seekers and introduced greater discipline in recruitment timelines.
Jitendra Singh stated that the quality and merit of candidates selected through the Rozgar Mela process have remained strong. He also claimed that the initiative has reduced delays that were previously associated with government recruitment procedures.
The Rozgar Mela events are being organized at multiple locations across India and involve recruitment in ministries and departments including railways, health services, postal services, education, banking and other public sector institutions. Officials say the recruitment drive is intended to fill vacancies more quickly and create opportunities for qualified youth.
Employment generation remains one of the major policy priorities of the Central government, particularly as millions of young people enter the workforce each year. Competitive examinations and government job recruitment continue to attract large numbers of applicants due to job security and career stability.
