Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday met with the grieving families of those killed in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, and vowed decisive action against those behind the incident. Expressing heartfelt condolences, Shah reassured the victims' families that the government stands firmly with them and will ensure justice is delivered.
The terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed several lives and injured many, has triggered a nationwide outcry and led to heightened security in the Valley. In a deeply emotional meeting, Shah listened to the concerns and pain of the bereaved families, many of whom are still reeling from the shock of the loss.
Speaking after the interaction, Shah stated, “We are committed to ensuring that those responsible for this heinous act will face the full force of the law. No stone will be left unturned in our efforts to track them down and bring them to justice.”
He also met with top officials from the Jammu & Kashmir administration, Army, and paramilitary forces to review the security situation in the aftermath of the attack. Shah directed intelligence and law enforcement agencies to strengthen surveillance in sensitive zones and intensify the manhunt for the attackers, believed to have fled into nearby forested areas.
The Home Minister emphasized the importance of coordination between central and state forces, stating that terrorism must be countered with unity and determination. He further announced additional financial aid and support for the affected families, including government jobs for eligible dependents.
In his remarks to the press, Shah noted, “The sacrifices of the innocent will not go in vain. The entire nation mourns this tragedy, and we are determined to restore peace and security in the region.”
Political leaders across the spectrum expressed solidarity with the victims and welcomed the Home Minister’s prompt visit. Opposition parties, while supportive of the security efforts, called for greater accountability and better intelligence to prevent such incidents.
Locals in Pahalgam expressed mixed emotions — sorrow for the victims and appreciation for the Centre's swift response. “At least we feel heard. We hope the promises made will be fulfilled,” said a resident who lost a relative in the attack.
The government has launched a high-level probe into the security lapses that led to the attack. With Amit Shah’s strong message, the Centre aims to send a clear signal that terrorism will not be tolerated and justice will be swift.
