In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed multiple lives and sparked widespread national outrage, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister has called for an all-party meeting in Srinagar to address the fallout of the incident. The meeting, scheduled for later this week, aims to unite political forces in the state to discuss security concerns, the political climate, and potential measures to prevent further violence.

The Pahalgam attack, which targeted both security personnel and civilians, has been widely condemned as a brutal act of terrorism. The incident has reignited concerns over the region’s volatile security situation and the need for stronger preventive mechanisms. By convening the all-party meeting, the Chief Minister hopes to present a unified front and formulate a comprehensive response to this national tragedy.

Representatives from major political parties, including the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress, and other regional parties, have been invited to participate. The agenda of the meeting includes a review of the current security arrangements, coordination between civil and security agencies, and ways to foster communal harmony during this tense period.

In a press statement, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of unity in the face of terror: “This is not the time for blame games or political point-scoring. The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve a coordinated and resolute response from their leaders. Together, we must work to ensure peace, security, and justice.”

Security experts and senior government officials will also brief the political leaders on intelligence inputs, ongoing investigations, and the broader security challenges facing the region. Sources indicate that the state government may also discuss demands for increased central assistance, deployment of additional forces, and funding for local intelligence infrastructure.

Opposition parties, while expressing their condolences and support for the victims, have also raised questions about lapses in intelligence and security preparedness. Many have urged the state administration to take concrete steps to reassure the public and restore confidence in law enforcement.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the region’s immediate response to the attack and laying the groundwork for long-term peacebuilding efforts. As the state grapples with grief and anger, the political class faces the challenge of translating solidarity into effective action.
