Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced the formation of a dedicated committee to develop a structured framework for daily wage workers employed in various government departments. Speaking at a public event, CM Abdullah stated that the committee would work on defining policies that ensure fair wages, job security, and better working conditions for these workers.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the government acknowledges the challenges faced by daily wagers, including uncertainty regarding regularization, salary delays, and lack of social security benefits. The newly formed committee will conduct a thorough assessment of the current employment structure and present its recommendations within six months.
CM Abdullah assured that his administration is committed to improving the livelihood of daily wage workers, who play a crucial role in the functioning of government departments. The framework will aim to bring transparency and uniformity in their employment conditions, ensuring that they receive due recognition and financial stability.
The move has been welcomed by labor unions and daily wage workers, who have long demanded a structured policy for their employment. Stakeholders from various sectors will be consulted to ensure that the final policy addresses the concerns of all affected workers.
The initiative is expected to bring long-term relief to thousands of daily wagers across Jammu and Kashmir, providing them with a sense of security and stability in their jobs.
