Night Temperatures Rise Across Kashmir Valley, Cold Wave Conditions Begin to Ease

While daytime temperatures have remained largely stable, the increase in minimum readings has reduced the intensity of early morning cold.

Cold weather conditions across the Kashmir Valley have shown signs of easing as minimum temperatures recorded a gradual rise, offering some relief to residents after an extended spell of harsh winter. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of 1.1 degrees Celsius, indicating a significant improvement from the sub zero temperatures witnessed earlier in the week.

Meteorological officials stated that the rise in night temperatures is largely due to changing weather patterns, including intermittent cloud cover and a reduction in icy winds. These factors have helped prevent sharp drops in temperature during the night, especially in central Kashmir districts. While daytime temperatures have remained largely stable, the increase in minimum readings has reduced the intensity of early morning cold.

Several other areas of the valley also experienced similar trends. Towns and rural regions that previously recorded freezing temperatures reported marginally warmer nights. Although frost formation was still observed in some locations, its intensity was lower compared to recent days. Residents noted improved conditions for daily activities, particularly during morning hours when extreme cold had previously disrupted routines.

Despite the improvement, weather experts cautioned that winter conditions are far from over. Nights are still cold, and temperatures remain below seasonal averages in many areas. Authorities have advised people to continue taking precautions, especially in higher altitude regions where temperatures can drop sharply after sunset.

The easing of cold conditions has brought relief to farmers and orchard owners who were concerned about prolonged freezing spells affecting crops and fruit trees. A slight rise in temperatures can help reduce frost damage, although agricultural experts continue to monitor weather trends closely.

Tourism activity in Srinagar and nearby areas has also seen a mild boost as weather conditions become more manageable. Visitors are still advised to dress warmly, as sudden weather changes are common during the winter season in the valley.

Meteorological officials said that future temperature trends will depend on western disturbances and snowfall activity in the higher reaches. Any fresh snowfall could once again lead to a drop in temperatures across the valley. However, if current conditions persist, residents can expect relatively stable weather in the short term.

Overall, the rise in minimum temperatures has brought temporary relief to the Kashmir Valley, easing the severity of the cold wave. While winter continues to dominate the region, the recent change has provided a welcome break from extreme cold conditions.
