Following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where several civilians were killed and injured, authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized a black motorcycle that was reportedly used by the attackers. Notably, the bike was found to be without a number plate, a crucial detail that is expected to aid investigators in piecing together the identity of the attackers and their escape route.
The attack, which took place on Monday evening, shocked the region and led to widespread condemnation from both local authorities and citizens. Initial reports suggest that armed militants ambushed a group of civilians, leading to gunfire and explosions. The assailants fled the scene shortly after the attack, making it difficult for authorities to track their movements immediately.
However, the recovery of the black bike without a number plate, discovered in a secluded area near the outskirts of Pahalgam, has given investigators a lead. The police are now working to trace the bike’s origin and whether it was stolen or rented. CCTV footage from the area shows the assailants using the bike to make a quick getaway, but the lack of a number plate has hindered the immediate identification of the vehicle.
Security forces are also focusing on the possible escape route taken by the militants. Intelligence agencies and local law enforcement are collaborating to analyze any surveillance footage, while roadblocks and security checkposts have been set up to intercept suspects in the region. The police are hopeful that the bike’s identification could lead them to more evidence, and ultimately, the arrest of those responsible for the attack.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, confirmed that an extensive manhunt is underway, with all law enforcement agencies on high alert. He assured the public that the police are doing everything possible to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The Pahalgam terror attack has once again raised concerns over the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities are now focusing on improving intelligence sharing, strengthening surveillance systems, and enhancing coordination between different security agencies to prevent such attacks in the future.
Local leaders, community members, and human rights organizations have condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the victims’ families, urging a swift investigation and justice.
