The Ministry of External Affairs has established a dedicated control room to assist Indian nationals in response to the escalating crisis in West Asia and the Gulf region. The announcement was made on Wednesday as tensions continue to rise in parts of the Middle East, leading to security concerns and travel disruptions.

In its official statement, the ministry said the control room has been set up to provide information and assistance to Indian citizens who may be affected by the evolving situation. The government emphasized that the safety and well being of Indian nationals abroad remains its highest priority. According to official estimates, nearly one crore Indians live and work across West Asia and the Gulf region, making it one of the largest overseas Indian communities in the world.

The control room will operate daily from 9 am to 9 pm. Citizens seeking assistance can contact the toll free number 1800118797 or reach out through the additional helpline numbers +91 11 2301 2113, +91 11 2301 4104, and +91 11 2301 7905. Officials stated that trained personnel will respond to queries related to safety, travel and other emergency concerns.

The ministry further said that the Government of India is closely monitoring the developments in the region. It added that New Delhi remains in regular communication with governments in West Asia as well as key international partners to assess the situation and coordinate necessary measures. Authorities have indicated that appropriate decisions will be taken in the national interest depending on how the situation unfolds.

Meanwhile, the Consulate General of India in Jeddah has announced that it is extending full support to Indian nationals travelling on special flights from the city. Travel services in certain parts of West Asia have been affected due to the ongoing conflict, leading to rescheduling and operational challenges. The consulate has advised passengers to stay in contact with airlines and follow official updates from Indian missions.

Officials reiterated that Indian embassies and consulates across the region are in constant touch with community representatives. Emergency response mechanisms have been strengthened to address any urgent requirements. The government has urged Indian nationals in the affected areas to remain vigilant, follow local advisories and avoid unnecessary travel to sensitive zones.

The ministry also encouraged citizens to rely only on verified information from official sources and refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports. In recent years, the government has adopted proactive measures to ensure swift assistance to Indians abroad during crisis situations, including evacuation operations and dedicated helpline services.

As the regional situation continues to evolve, authorities have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to safeguard Indian citizens. Further updates are expected based on ground level assessments and diplomatic consultations.
