The government has said it aims to extend the programme to 82.9 million beneficiaries.

In a significant move to address malnutrition, the Indonesian government has launched a free meal program specifically designed for children and pregnant women. This initiative aims to provide essential nutrition to these vulnerable groups, ensuring they have access to healthy and balanced meals.

The programme began on January 6, 2025, at 190 locations across 26 provinces, with meals prepared at kitchens run by catering services. It is part of the government’s efforts to tackle malnutrition, and its target groups include schoolchildren, children under five, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.
