In a strong statement, Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, condemned the attacks and injustices faced by Hindus in Bangladesh in recent days. He emphasized that there is no justification for the violence and discrimination that religious minorities, particularly Hindus, have been subjected to.
The Imam highlighted the importance of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence, stressing that such acts of violence go against the fundamental values of humanity. He further called on the government of Bangladesh to take strict action to protect the rights of religious minorities and ensure their safety.
Bukhari's comments come amid reports of increasing incidents of religious intolerance and targeted attacks on Hindus in various parts of Bangladesh. These incidents have sparked widespread concern among the international community, with many urging the Bangladeshi authorities to take swift and decisive measures to address the situation.
The Jama Masjid Shahi Imam also appealed for solidarity among different religious communities in India and Bangladesh, urging people to come together to fight against all forms of injustice and promote peace. He expressed hope that such incidents would not lead to further divisions and conflicts between religious communities.
