Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has begun an official visit to Beijing, China, with the aim of deepening defense cooperation between the two countries. Upon his arrival, Belousov was received with a ceremonial welcome at the Central Military Commission building, where he was greeted by an honor guard and a military orchestra. The ceremony concluded with a formal march by the honor guard, reflecting the significance of the visit.
During his stay, Belousov is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with top Chinese military and political officials, including Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun. These discussions are expected to focus on enhancing military collaboration, joint exercises, and strategic security matters.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Minister visited Tiananmen Square, where he laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes, paying homage to those who lost their lives during China’s revolutionary struggles in the 19th and 20th centuries. The 38-meter-high monument, built between 1952 and 1958, holds deep historical and cultural significance in China.
The visit is seen as an important step in bolstering the strategic partnership between Russia and China, particularly in the areas of defense and security, amid growing geopolitical challenges.
