The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has issued a formal clarification denying recent media reports that claimed a Golden Visa was being offered to certain nationalities for a fixed amount of Rs 23 lakh. These reports, which circulated widely on social media and some news platforms, suggested that specific individuals could purchase long-term residency rights under special pricing. UAE authorities have categorically refuted these claims and stressed that no such policy exists.

In a statement released by the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the government confirmed that the Golden Visa program continues to follow its original structure and eligibility criteria. The Golden Visa allows foreign nationals to live, work, and study in the UAE without the need for a national sponsor and is usually granted to investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, outstanding students, and skilled professionals.

Officials stated that the visa is granted based on merit and qualifications, and that no nationality is offered special financial terms or preferential treatment. “The Golden Visa system is designed to attract exceptional talent and investment. The eligibility criteria are clearly outlined and apply equally to all applicants regardless of their country of origin,” the statement read.

The clarification came after confusion arose due to advertisements and speculative reports that indicated a fixed price tag for the visa, allegedly targeting applicants from South Asia and other select regions. These claims led to widespread discussion and raised concerns about potential discriminatory practices. The UAE government moved quickly to clarify its position and prevent the spread of misinformation.

Legal and immigration experts in the UAE also confirmed that the visa process remains strictly regulated. Applicants are required to meet specific conditions depending on their category — whether it is investment-based, talent-based, or employment-related. The criteria include minimum investment amounts, academic qualifications, professional achievements, and recommendations from recognized institutions.

In recent years, the UAE has positioned itself as a global hub for innovation and talent, launching several reforms to attract skilled professionals and investors from across the world. The Golden Visa program, introduced in 2019, has been a key part of that strategy, offering 5- and 10-year residency permits to eligible individuals.

Officials have urged the public to rely on information published through official government portals and verified sources. They also warned against falling for unauthorized visa agents or advertisements promoting shortcuts and unverified offers.

The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining fairness and transparency in all aspects of its immigration system. “We welcome individuals from all countries who meet the qualifications. Our policies are designed to support the UAE’s development goals and uphold international standards of equality,” the authority concluded.

As of now, the standard application process for the Golden Visa remains unchanged. Prospective applicants are advised to consult official websites or authorized government representatives for accurate details and application procedures.
