Health and food safety experts have praised the swift action taken by both the FDA and Golden Crop Foods, noting that such measures are critical in maintaining public trust and avoiding widespread health risks.

A popular candy product, Golden Crop Candy, has been voluntarily recalled in eight U.S. states due to potential contamination with unapproved food additives. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an alert earlier this week after conducting routine inspections and tests on select candy batches that revealed the presence of non-compliant ingredients.

The recall affects products distributed in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, and Arizona. Retailers in these states have been instructed to immediately remove the product from shelves. Distributors and customers are also being advised to check their inventory and avoid selling or consuming the affected batches.

According to the FDA, the issue was identified during a quality control check, which revealed that certain batches of Golden Crop Candy contained unauthorized colorants and artificial preservatives not approved for use in food products in the U.S. While there have been no reports of illness or adverse reactions as of now, the recall was initiated as a precautionary measure to ensure consumer safety.

Golden Crop Foods, the manufacturer of the candy, has cooperated fully with the FDA and issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience caused to customers and retailers. The company confirmed that the recalled batches were distributed between February and early April 2025, and are marked with the lot numbers GC0423, GC0424, and GC0425.

“We take food safety and compliance very seriously. As soon as we were notified of the issue, we initiated a voluntary recall and are working closely with authorities to resolve the matter,” a company spokesperson said.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled candy are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of it safely. The FDA has advised against consuming the candy, especially for individuals with food sensitivities or children, until further notice.

As investigations continue, the FDA has confirmed that enhanced testing and monitoring will be conducted to prevent similar issues in the future. For additional information, consumers can visit the FDA’s official website or contact the manufacturer directly via their customer care line.
