Russia has announced the development of a new electronic warfare system named Volna Kupol Garant, which is reportedly designed to interfere with Starlink satellite communications. According to Russian sources, the system aims to disrupt communication by targeting satellite signals instead of directly attacking user terminals on the ground.

The announcement comes as satellite based communication networks have become an increasingly important component of modern military operations. Since the beginning of the Russia Ukraine conflict, satellite internet services have played a significant role in maintaining communications, supporting military coordination, and enabling access to information in areas where conventional communication infrastructure has been disrupted.

Starlink, operated by SpaceX, is a satellite internet network that provides broadband connectivity through thousands of low Earth orbit satellites.
