According to official statements, Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson gifted Prime Minister Modi replicas of handwritten epigrams created by Rabindranath Tagore during his visits to Sweden in 1921 and 1926. The gift also included a photograph of Tagore taken during his visit to Uppsala University in 1921, along with explanatory notes about the historical significance of the documents.
Officials stated that the original handwritten epigrams were recently discovered in the Swedish National Archives. The discovery has drawn attention from historians and cultural scholars because it provides additional insight into Tagore’s interactions with Sweden and his intellectual exchanges during his visits to Europe.
Rabindranath Tagore, widely regarded as one of India’s greatest literary figures, maintained strong connections with several European countries during the early twentieth century.
